The New Year is here, and many people are indulging in retrospection and reevaluating some of their life choices. New Year’s resolutions are the perfect opportunity to start making the changes that they said they would make next week, next month, or perhaps next year…

Now’s your chance to sit down and prepare a list of important lifestyle changes you want to make, write it out, make sure your goals are SMART and give yourself a time line for each.

Many have resolutions to lose weight and get healthy.  Research shows 95 % of diets fail because people don’t get to the root cause of why they overeat, indulge, binge, emotional eat etc… This year, get off to the right start and assess your emotions.  Ask yourself when your reaching for food, what am i feeling now?  why do i want this food?  Am i physically hungry? You’d be surprised at what may come up for you.

Stop procrastinating: The biggest barrier that keeps most people from reaching their goals is the desire to relax and do something fun instead of working hard. Once you get used to procrastinating it’s difficult to snap yourself out of it, so one thing that can help is to give yourself the 2 min rule.  Take 2 min to start a task and you’ll likely get it done instead of putting it off. There is also an NLP technique to help you to go from procrastination to motivation, its called chaining anchors.

Reduce stress: They say that stress is one of the biggest killers out there, and it can have a very destructive effect on your relationships as well as your health. It may be an unavoidable side effect of our hectic modern lifestyles, but it can be effectively managed with the help.  Take time for self care, love and nurture yourself.  IF a stressful situation is upon you, take a breath,step back and ask yourself, how can i respond most appropriately here?… Could my perception be wrong about this situation or person?
